A Day Unlike Any Other
Last week, I had an unforgettable day. A tribal fight had broken out, and we were called to respond. I transported four patients, each accompanied by a caregiver. All four had been struck by wire catapults—homemade arrows. One had an arrow lodged in his leg, another in his lower abdomen, a third had one just inches from his heart, and the fourth… in his left eye.
Upon arrival, the hospital team got to work immediately. As they cared for the wounded, we continued another kind of work—offering hope and healing beyond just the physical.
Every patient we bring in receives a small but powerful gift: a patient pack filled with essentials like a bowl to eat from, rice, water, soap, toilet paper, a spoon, and a solar-charged Audio Bible in their language with songs and an audio version of the book King Bilong Glory—the Creation to Christ audio lessons that we go over during their stay at the hospital.
Meeting Raymond Junior
Among the patients that day was 14-year-old Raymond Junior, shot in the chest. When I visited him before his surgery, he lay in bed, the arrow still bandaged in place. But beside him, resting on his chest, was something remarkable—a solar Audio Bible, playing words he had never heard before.
As we talked, he told me he had never been to school. Never been to church. Never heard the Word of God. He had grown up without a father, living in a village with a man who provided food but little else.
That day, I had the privilege of introducing him to a Heavenly Father—one who will never leave him. Now, he has access to God’s Word anytime, in his own language.
This is why we do what we do. The wounded are not just receiving medical care—they are encountering hope, healing, and the life-changing message of Jesus.
Thank you for standing with us in this mission. Your prayers and support make moments like this possible.
